As a General Sales Manager of a 5 station group if Edmonton, Alberta, Canada here's what I am personally doing to attract business owners and decision makers to the benefits of radio with the integration of on-line and social media in an overall strategy...

*Twitter: @radiosalesguy - I tweet as a resource to business people
http://twitter.com/radiosalesguy

*Linked In: My detailed profile and philosophy as a sales manager is listed. Ihttp://www.linkedin.com/in/radiosalesguy
I have also started a group called THE SALES FLOOR on LinkedIn for salespeople and business owners wanting to collaborate with like minded people to continue growth and learning - personally and professionally. http://www.linkedin.com/groups/SALES-FLOOR-4141924?trk=myg_ugrp_ovr

*Blog on one of my stations showing decision makers how proven traditional advertising strategies can be supplemted with on-line and social media. http://www.k97.fm/blogs.asp?bloggerid=12

*Our station group holds Educational Seminars twice a year in an effort to educate decision makers about marketing - We DO NOT present a "package" with dobermans at the door. There is no hidden agenda here - pure education with no strings attached.

In my opinion radio, as an industry, does not do a very good job promoting itself to attract potential advertisers to the medium. Radio is LOCAL - that's its benefit! On-line, mobile and social media can be a great compliment on this basis. It takes individual visionaries to see this as an opportunity and run with it before obtaining corporate backing. Thanks for reading!
